MAINTENANCE DIRECTOR (new 2026)
Kedleston Gospel Camp is looking for a Maintenance Director to help care for our facilities, grounds, and systems during the camp season. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, problem-solving, and being part of a team that supports meaningful Christian Camping ministry.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
-
Maintain camp buildings, cabins, and grounds
-
Handle day-to-day repairs (plumbing, doors, painting, general upkeep)
-
Operate and monitor camp water and septic systems (training provided)
-
Supervise and mentor custodial and grounds staff and set daily work routines
-
Help prepare camp for summer start-up and ongoing operations
-
Work closely with the Executive Director and Maintenance Committee to receive guidance for larger projects
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

Someone practical, reliable, and willing to learn

Comfortable taking direction and working within established systems
-
Able to supervise others and keep tasks organized
-
Experience working in camping ministry, schools, churches, or similar facilities is an asset
-
Previous experience in maintenance, groundskeeping, or a related field is a strong asset
-
Basic mechanical, plumbing, or other trades knowledge is a strong asset
-
Valid driver’s license required

ADMIN ASSISTANT
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Work responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

Human Resources: filing and procuring outstanding employment agreements, criminal record checks, etc.
-
In conjunction with Registrar organize campers into cabins.
-
Maintain inventory and order supplies as needed.
-
Manage Canteen including tracking camper accounts, inventory, and ordering supplies.
-
General understanding of registration and donation process.

PROGRAM DIRECTOR
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Develop daily camp activity schedule in conjunction with team

Assist/coach activity leaders to develop programming for their skill area and ensure activity meets outcomes of: safety, engaging, challenging, and FUN!

Supervise staff who are overseeing skills, assess/evaluate competence of programming staff and adjust as needed
-
Assess/evaluate success of program and activities and adjust as needed
-
Maintain programming equipment and keep track of inventory
-
Assist with development and implementation of staff training weekend
-
Monitor weather and suitability

JACOB'S LADDER DIRECTOR
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Develop and implement programming for campers, school groups, rentals

Maintain all equipment and structural soundness of the climbing wall and components
-
Ensure safety is maintained at all times and that staff are ensuring safety requirements as taught by Certified Instructors from Challenges Unlimited

Lead other programming areas when Jacob’s Ladder is not in operation

WATERFRONT DIRECTOR
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

The Waterfront Director’s role will take place primarily on the waterfront however, please be prepared to complete other tasks as assigned.

Boating & Fishing
Create boat driver schedule
Work with boating safety volunteer to ensure all drivers have completed KGC Boating Safety Course
Maintains and ensures equipment of each boat (i.e. radio, first aid, etc.)
Oversees maintenance and upkeep of all fishing boats & equipment -
Schedule boat drivers for camps

Waterfront Equipment
Oversees maintenance and upkeep of all boating equipment, canoes, kayaks, paddles, oars, lifejackets, inflatable water park, and water trampoline
Inspect all equipment to ensure safety -
Supervision
Supervise lifeguards and boating staff, provide assistance when necessary -
Skills
Ensure that canoe/kayak teacher has planned adequate lesson for each skill. Provide assistance as required.

CABIN LEADER
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Model Christ-like care for campers

Ensure the safety and fun program participation of campers in your cabin

Ensure no camper is left out and work towards making camp accessible and fun for them.

Participate in camp activities with your camper all day – meal times, skills, free time – essentially all their waking hours
-
complete end-of-camp camper paperwork

Must have successfully completed Sr LIT program or equivalent before applying

Manage camper behavior and apply/enforce appropriate safety regulation and emergency procedures

HEAD LIFEGUARD
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Monitor all swimmers ensuring safety for all campers in the water

Ability to focus on swimmers despite distraction of beach activities

Maintain life jackets and clean beach area and life jacket shed following swimming times
-
Monitor weather and work with the Waterfront Director if water activities need to be cancelled

Be a leader in water emergency preparedness drills
-
Lead emergency response for all water emergencies in swimming area or lake.

Assist in other areas of camp operation as requested.

MAINTENANCE/GROUNDSKEEPER ASSISTANT

Maintain grounds including mowing, trimming, garbage removal

Report any sites needing maintenance

Assist Maintenance Director, Custodians, other staff as requested.

Empty garbages throughout camp grounds and buildings

CHAPEL COORDINATOR
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
The Chapel Coordinator will coordinate all of the tech and team needs during each chapel service at camp, including kids' services at Family Camps.
Work alongside all speakers and musicians to operate the soundboard during rehearsals and services, queue PowerPoint presentations, and oversee any other audio/visual components.
Responsible to provide participants an opportunity to grow in or discover the Christian faith in a safe and loving environment.

CAMP NURSE
(Volunteer position)
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Familiarize themselves with camper list and all medical forms ahead of registration

Meet each camper/parent at registration collecting all pertinent information and collecting all medications
-
Administer meds daily to each camper requiring daily medication
-
Attend to all medical needs that arise throughout the camp and respond to medical emergencies
-
Help directors maintain health and safety regulations
-
Be on grounds at all times and arrange in advance for absence.

HEAD COOK
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Plan menu for their week(s) of camp
Daily meal preparation
Awareness of all camper and staff food allergies or restrictions and prepare accordingly
Liaison with Head Cook Coordinator to order all necessary groceries and work within available stock where instructed.
Supervise assistant cooks
Coordinate weekly with program director regarding meal times, theme meals, mug up locations, etc.

Must have current Food Safety course
Able to work well with and lead Assistant Cooks, volunteers, and support staff.
Plan, organize and prepare meals daily

MEDIA COORDINATOR
The Media Coordinator will create, manage, and share visual content to promote camp programs and events.
Responsibilities include photography, videography, and editing for use on social media, websites, and promotional
materials. The role also involves assisting with marketing campaigns, documenting camp activities, and supporting communications initiatives that showcase the camp experience to youth, families, and the broader community.
The Media Coordinator may also assist with camp programming when required and will perform additional duties as assigned to support the overall success of the camp.

CARE LEADER
The Male & Female Care Leaders serve as support and supervisors for the summer cabin leader team, providing mentorship, encouragement, practical and spiritual care throughout the camp season. They assist cabin leaders by providing additional assistance and attention for children with high needs or special needs, behavioural concerns, and homesickness.
Care Leaders build strong relationships with staff, lead times of prayer, encouragement, check-ins, and support the growth and development of the cabin leader team. They also help maintain smooth camp operations by assisting with camp-wide programs and clean up duties as needed. Care Leaders play a vital role in creating a safe, loving, and spiritually supportive environment where both
campers and staff can grow in their faith and overall wellbeing.
